I'm thinking of adopting a Coton because my Canaan Dog's best friend right now is a male Coton. Your other message site is not working so I thought I'd try to contact you via the Guestbook. Thank you.

I came to your web site because I have been trying to find out
what kind of dog I have - he is a pound puppy. It seems he
is too tall (15 inches) and too thin to be a Coton de Tulear.
The breed looks and sounds very appealing because of their
non-shedding coat and long life. I enjoyed looking at all
of your wonderful photos!

I was looking for some info from the AKC.
I agree with you the novice has a tendence to
use the AKC as the ultimate in good pedigre.
I raise Newfoundlands and Labradors and there are
some very poor speciments of our breed out there.
I have never seen or heard of your breed before.
They seem adorable. Are you from the States?
They definitely a breed that looks like the
puppy millers would like to get there hans on.
Good Luck!!!

Really enjoyed browsing through your website!
I fell in love with BART who lives in Paris.
I met him in June 1998 and have been diligently
doing my homework ever since. We have two cats
(one of whom thinks he's a dog!) and I am planning
on searching for a Coton in the near future. Any
suggestions on breeders that have tri-color pups
on the larger side (15-23 lbs)? Your picture of
Fiddle-Dee was charming!

An excellent web site but I would like to see the
answers to the questions posed in the guest books.
Do you ever answer people? If this is not your
practise it might be helpful to say this so people
would not ask questions and then wonder why they
are not being answered. More information on where
you are located and whether you welcome inquiries.
Thank you.

Hello Tara -
I have recently become aware of the Coton and
am feeling that this may be the dog for us.
Altho I love large dogs I am very aware of
the advantages to a smaller breed. I would
like to see a Coton. Where are you located
and do you know of any responsible good
breeders in the N. Calif area. I live near
Santa Rosa (60 mi north of San Francisco)
Thank you for any info you can provide.

I have an old English and a Bearded Collie.
I have been doing pet therapy with the old
English for four years. He is 8 yrs old.
I am thinking about a third dog. It is
conceivable that in the next 5-6 years,
we may want to sell our large house and
go into a smaller one. I am therefore,
considering options other than getting
our fourth sheepdog. I just heard about
the Coton de Tulear, and understand that
they are difficult to find. Could you
tell me about the availability and what
you think about them being in a home
with my other two dogs. Spencer (sheepdog)
is 8 and Annie Hall the Beardie is 4.

Have been interested in Cotons since 1994
when I lived in San Diego, have collected
much info on them. Am interested in owning
a coton, with possibility of becoming a breeder
in Arizona - there are no Cotons in Arizona.
Am discussing possibilities with my local
Vet who is also interested in Cotons.
Your "Sugar of Woodland Cottage" is certainly
a winner, and beautiful, as are his progeny!
Keep up the great work with this wonderful breed.

know of a pet quality or show quality dog in our area. We

Thank you for creating such an excellent view
of the coton. I am trying to learn more about
different dog breeds that interest me in the
hopes that I will make a good selection for
me and the dog when I finally make up my mind.
The coton intrigues me. I like its appearance,
size and personality. I do not want a nervous
or jumpy dog and I would like a dog that is
possible to house train. Many of the toy dogs
are difficult to house train. does the coton
get along with cats? I have two cats, ages 8
and 10. I do not work and spend a lot of time
at home but have to travel about 4 times a
year for 4 or 5 days to visit my children.
Will this dog be all right in a kennel?
thanks for any answers you can give me.

Sweet'n'Low is my favorite Coton I have admired
afar from pictures in ACTA newsletter. I have
a girlfriend who has a picture of my Coton in

How do we get on the list for a Tara Coton?
Also, I love the pictures special effects!

shoulder like my Coton does when he hears
me say "where's your girlfriend, Jack?" thanks
for producing such gorgeous Coton de Tulears!!!

Hi, I wrote to you last year when I first started researching
the Coton breed. I found someone who I really liked in the
Montreal area. I brought my new addition home the end of
February and we love him to death. Now I know why
everyone that owns one talks about their clownish personality.
He is the most adorable fun loving puppy I have ever seen!
We can't get enough of him!

I am very interested in this breed and have been eyeing
them for about 5-6 years. I have some contacts in Europe,
do you reccomend I try to obtain an American born Coton
or a Europeon born? I would probably like to start with a
female who could become a foundation for breeding if later
I became interested. I would not make this decision lightly,
so I would continue to investigate, etc before even obtaining her.
If you have time, I would be interested in your input.
Also, how often do you have puppies available, and do you
have older dogs for sale. I am also interested in showing.
I showed a Great Pyr once in a puppy show and won,
and found it to be great fun.
Many thanks, Tee

I have a very similar dog. She’s four years old. Nobody really knew what breed she is. We thought she is a bichon, then tibetan dog, etc. just recently we bought a dog’s magazine where it presented the ‘coton of tulear’ breed.and it looked so much like our doggy, only that ours has more of brownish-red on her back. Anyway, we love her like I can’t say and we were really happy to look over all yourpictures. We might visit soon. You guys must be so happy to do this. Good luck!

We have enjoyed the pictures and the news of Cotons at all of the websites we have visited. My wife and I had settled on the Havanese as companion pet, but recently discovered the Coton and were interested in a comparison of the two. Does the coton shed? Have doggy odor? Are they smart, trainable? Are they slow to house break? Do they have problems with tear stain and beard stain? What is the range in price for pet quality and how available are the puppies? Are mixed color puppies less common? Is there a difference in personality between the sexes? I know I’ve asked for a lot of info and thank you for a response. Bob Egan
